Boops & Baps game and website · Updated 17 October 2026
Who we are
Boops & Baps is made and published by Carhaix Au Pty Ltd, a company registered in Australia, under the CLINTERNATIONAL name ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Boops & Baps game on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the clint.games/boops-and-baps website. Contact us about privacy at hello+boops-and-baps@clint.games.
What we collect and how we collect it
We collect information to let you play online and, when diagnostics are enabled, to diagnose crashes, connection failures and performance problems. We do not ask you to type in your real name, email address, date of birth or payment details.
| Information | How we collect it |
|---|---|
| Steam account ID, Steam nickname and avatar | Received from Steam when you start the game from Steam. |
| Epic account ID and Epic display name | Received from Epic when you start the game from the Epic Games Store, or when you choose to link an Epic account in the game on Steam. |
| Epic friends list and online status | Received from Epic only when you play from the Epic Games Store and approve this on Epic's sign-in screen. |
| Epic Online Services (EOS) player ID | Assigned through Epic Online Services when the game signs you in with Steam or Epic. |
| Game profile: in-game display name, chosen breed, settings and key bindings | Entered or chosen by you in the game. |
| Approximate country (a two-letter code) | Estimated by Steam from your IP address, or read from your computer's region setting. |
| Network connection details, such as your IP address | Used by the game, through Epic Online Services, to connect your computer with the other players in your session. |
| Optional game diagnostics | When enabled, the game automatically sends build and platform information, operation and provider error codes, timings, sampled performance counters, and random or pseudonymous diagnostic references to our Cloudflare service. Small startup or sign-in failure reports may be sent before sign-in. An Epic login proof establishes an internal account and short-lived API session. Signed-in reports are associated with random internal account/session references; login proofs and API bearer tokens are not stored with reports. Reports exclude player names, raw account IDs, chat, save contents and connection secrets. |
| Optional crash reports | When diagnostics and crash reporting are enabled for your build, Sentry automatically receives crash stacks, build information, bounded diagnostic breadcrumbs and an internal account reference when signed in. Native crash dumps can contain fragments of process memory and local file paths. Screenshots, replay and automatic raw-log attachments are disabled. |
| Website request details, such as IP address, browser and pages requested | Recorded automatically by Cloudflare, our website host, when you visit the website. |
How we use it
- To sign you in, identify you in co-op sessions and keep your game profile between sessions and devices.
- To show your name, avatar and breed to the players in your session, and let you invite friends and join their packs.
- To show your Epic friends what you are doing in the game (for example "In the backyard · Pack 3/8"), only when you play from the Epic Games Store and have allowed it.
- To show your approximate country next to a Public pack you host, so other players can pick a nearby pack. Private packs never show it.
- To diagnose crashes, connection failures and performance regressions, and to keep the game and website working and secure.
We do not use your information for advertising or behavioural profiling, and we do not sell it.
How we share it
- Other players in your session see your display name, avatar, breed and in-game actions. The game has no text or voice chat; players communicate with fixed pings and emotes.
- Valve (Steam) and Epic Games (Epic Online Services and Epic Account Services) process the information above to provide sign-in, online sessions, friends, invites and player storage, under their own privacy policies: Steam and Epic Games.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and our diagnostics API, database and private report storage. It processes request details to deliver and secure these services. Our diagnostic reports do not store IP addresses; the API uses them transiently for rate limits, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Sentry processes optional crash and unexpected-error reports under Sentry's privacy policy. Access to native crash dumps is restricted to people maintaining the game.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it.
These providers may store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We do not share your information with anyone else.
How long we keep it
- Game profile on your computer: until you delete the game's saved data.
- Game profile in Epic Online Services player storage: while the game is offered, or until you ask us to delete it; we delete it within 30 days of your request.
- Session, invite and online-status information: used for live sessions. Sanitized diagnostic events about these operations may be kept separately as described below.
- Cloudflare diagnostic reports and event metadata: 30 days. Pending uploads on your computer expire after seven days; local diagnostic logs rotate within a bounded size. Reports you manually export remain until you delete them.
- Internal account and identity records: retained separately from diagnostic reports until account deletion. Provider identity lookup uses a keyed digest; API sessions expire within 15 minutes and expired session records are cleared daily.
- Sentry crash reports: subject to the configured project retention, no longer than 90 days.
- Information held by Steam, Epic and Cloudflare: see their own privacy policies.
How we protect it
You sign in through Steam or Epic, so we never see or store your passwords. Only we can access the game's Epic Online Services and crash-report data.
Children
The game is rated for teens and older on most storefronts. We do not knowingly collect information from children beyond what the game needs to run.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off diagnostics in the game's General settings. This stops Cloudflare and Sentry collection and clears pending diagnostic uploads from your computer; it does not delete reports already received. Diagnostics are enabled by default in playtest builds that support reporting. You can play on Steam without an Epic account. You can withdraw Epic's friends and online-status permission at any time in your Epic account settings, and stop sharing your country by hosting Private packs. You can ask us for a copy of your information, a correction or a deletion by emailing hello+boops-and-baps@clint.games; we reply within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK or another region with data-protection law, you also have the rights that law gives you, including complaining to your local regulator. Australian residents can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
This website
The website has no accounts, contact forms, advertising, analytics scripts or tracking cookies, and does not ask you for personal information. Links to Steam, the Epic Games Store and Discord take you to independent services with their own privacy policies.
Changes
We will update this policy and its date whenever the game's use of information changes, and announce major changes in the game's store news.
